SDO (in uniform), Nkambe DO (in gandora) with the Mayors |
Besides being enjoined to judiciously use funds at
their disposal, the Donga Mantung SDO called on the mayor and his deputies to
ensure strict respect for laws governing local collectivities as they take over
the council.
Above and beyond showing transparency in the
management of council funds, the Mr. Messape Bernard advised the new mayor to
work in solidarity and improve on the living conditions of denizens of the
municipality. “You cannot do it alone, delegate functions for greater harmony
with your four deputies”, the SDO told the mayor.
Mr. Ndode Messape Bernard urged the new council
leadership to use its diverse experiences to source for finances to foster
development in the Nkambe municipality. “Be at the fore of all constructive
actions, liaise with other councils, development partners and bring the
development the municipality needs”, Mr Ndode recommended.
Though conscious that the councilors were elected
under the banner of a political party (the CPDM), following the outcome of the
September 30 twin elections, the SDO warned that “councils are not organs of
political parties”. Thus, the councilors and council executives were called
upon to bury the political differences of yesterday and work for the interest
of the people of the Nkambe municipality as a whole.

He reminded the new executive of the municipality that
covers 17 villages of their campaign promises ahead of the September 30 twin
polls. “Remember your campaign promises; the people want to see you act now”,
the SDO said.
While pledging the government’s support to the newly
installed council executive, the Donga Mantung SDO who was assisted at the
installation ceremony by the Divisional Officer for Nkambe, implored the
population of Nkambe to lend the team maximum collaboration.
The installation ceremony was attended by friends,
relatives, colleagues of those installed and CPDM party comrades amongst others.
